Plates and bridges are made of untreated German silver decorated with perlage and Glashutte ribbing. The plates, bridges, whiplash spring and classic column wheel are chamfered and polished. The balance cock is hand-engraved. The large two-digit date apperture is at 12. The day of the week subdial is at 8, with the small day/night indicator dial just above it. The moon-phase display is at 6 o'clock. The month subdial is at 4 o'clock, with the small leap-year dial just below it.
This remarkable timepiece is the first to incorporate a perpetual calendar with a chronograph. The calendar is accurate until the year 2100, when, because the year 2100 is not a leap year (it is a century year that is not divizable by 400), the calendar will require a manual advance of 1 day. The moon-phase is itself an incredibly precise movement, accurate for 122 years, after which, it too will require a one day adjustment. An ingenious interlock device prevents accidental date resetting on the Datograph Perpetual. After pulling out the crown and disengaging the interlock, the perpetual calendar can be purposefully reset. The calendar mechanism alone accounts for 223 parts.
A total of 556 individually assembled and adjusted parts constitute this superb watch. The watch is equipped with a stopwork (preventing overwinding and uncoiling) that ensures accurate torque delivery. The balance is by glucydur with eccentric poising weights, and a Lange balance spring.
The watch is packaged in a gorgeous Black embossed box (with Lange Sohne bezel design). Included in the inner box is the Lange booklet wallet in a smooth Navy Blue finish. The Datograph Perpetual instruction manual in 9 languages is secured on the left. The 'History of your watch' booklet is secured on the right - it contains the guarantee seal (with Model, Case and Movement numbers), generational ownership record, service logs and official agents leaflet.
The outer box is the functional and simple Lange gray textured-finish box, that keeps the inner box secure from the elements.
A. Lange & Sohne have done it again in magnificent style. This truly awe-inspiring example of watchmaking acumen is only available in Platinum in extremely limited quantities.

A Lange & Sohne was first established in 1845 by Adolph Lange in Glasshutte. The firm established itself as makers of distinctive and fine timepieces - its pocket watches were prized by European gentry. Following the Second World War, the factory was seized by what was then East Germany. Walter Lange, the company's heir fled. It was only after the German reunification in 1990, that the founder's great grandson, Walter Lange, began reviving the company. With funding from LMH, the newly reformed company set out to restore its fine watchmaking tradition. The company was sold to the luxury conglomerate Richemont in July 2000. Although its watch parts may be cut with exceptional precision by the most advanced computer-aided machine tools, they are still finished, decorated and engraved by the skilled hands of some of the world's finest watchmakers.
